Martin Lytke

Es ist kein Zufall, dass Martin Lytkes Werke wie Bilder der klassischen Moderne wirken. Die Formsprache, die an Dada erinnernde Collagehaftigkeit, verzerrte Figuration und surreale Räume legen diese Assoziation nahe. Unterstützt wird dieser Eindruck oft durch die passende Rahmung. Beim näheren hinschauen entdeckt man eine fast trashige Ironie, die aber stets den modernen Vorbildern verbunden bleibt. Nur die sture Ernsthaftigkeit wird vorsätzlich abgelegt.
Wenn Kunst, dann soll sie auch Spaß machen. Dieser ironisierende Aspekt überträgt sich auch auf den Markt-Kontext. Auf dem Kunstmarkt gelten die Werke der klassischen Moderne immer noch als das Non-plus-Ultra, zumindest als Wertanlage. Lytke versucht keine neue Formsprache zu entwickeln, er spielt mit den Klischees und beweist dabei ein Auge für Details und ästhetisierendes Geschick in der Zusammenstellung.
Das an Max Ernsts surreale Landschaften erinnernde „Granit“ verschweigt, ob es sich um eine Höhle oder den Kosmos handelt und demonstriert formal die Übersetzung der eincollagierten Kerzenflammen in pastose Abstraktion, um nur eine der zahlreichen Entdeckungen vorweg zu nehmen, die man auf dem in der Sammlung Rusche befindlichen Bild machen kann.
